I use ChapStick! (not a ton--I don't want to become dependent on it--but I use it.)
I know I checked it at one point, or I wouldn't be using it.
But--of course--we need to always check labels and products we use. Products change ingredients all the time. Check and double check. But I hadn't checked in a while.
Nothing on the label that suggested to me, "gluten."
I checked the website. In their FAQs, it states that it contains no oats, rye, or barley.
But what about wheat?!!
So I called.
Here's the response I received from Pfizer:
There is no gluten in any of the ChapSticks' raw ingredients.
There is no gluten in the facility where it is produced.
I was told that the only reason it is not labeled "gluten free" is because there is no final testing conducted on the end product. I was told that the only way gluten could be in the product is if any of the raw materials came in contact with gluten before entering the facility.
So there it is.
Am I comfortable using ChapStick?
Always have--and still am.
